Kent is not called the Garden of England for nothing. It is one of the prettiest areas of England. If you do not have enough time to venture to The Lake District or The Peak District from London, then Kent is the perfect alternative. It is just a short drive away from London and provides scenic panoramas straight out of a movie or a fairy tale.
The best months to drive around in Kent are June, July and August. This is because the countryside is truly alive during the English summer. Drives are dotted with entire fields of canola or lavender. Just roll down the windows of your car and enjoy the magic of the English countryside. You can pack a picnic but you can also stop at one of the dozens of pick-your-own on the way. Here you can pick your own fruits—strawberries, raspberries, gooseberries, apples, pears and plums. You can enjoy the fruits of your labour and picnic in the surrounding farmland once you have paid for the fresh produce. Kent is the perfect place for an archetypal English experience and the perfect antidote to the chaos of London.
