Nicolas Roerich (Nikolai Roerich) was a Russian painter, who also wrote poetry and made Naggar his home for the last few years of his life. He travelled extensively through Tibet and the Himalayas. Nicolas Roerich’s old home (ground floor) has now been converted into the Roerich Museum; he lived here from the late 1920s till 1947.Nicolas Roerich had varied interests and was also known to be a writer, philosopher, archeologist, explorer and mystic. His interest and popularity in Naggar ensures a steady stream of Russian tourists coming in.
