Taking into account these hindrances, the state government has taken up a project to resolve these civic issues, and make it easy for pilgrims.
Reportedly, the new project will allow the visitors to access the temple directly from the ancient ghats, thus getting saved from the hassle of making their way through the narrow twisting lanes.
A roadmap of the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor Project has been approved by both KVT administration, and the UP state government. News has it that the project costs INR 600 crores. The project involves preservation of 46 old temples, libraries, and heritage buildings.

“The 56 m wide corridor will be over 300 m in length. We have surveyed and mapped the local areas between Neelkanth Gate-Manikarnika Ghat and Saraswati Phatak-Lalita Ghat. A total of 166 buildings have been identified between both the routes,” KVT chief executive officer and Varanasi Development Authority (VDA) secretary Vishal Singh told the press.
