Lucknow, the city of nawabs, has been attracting travelers from all across the globe for its rich heritage and culture. The place is beautiful and is home to a number of old monuments that are historically significant. Being a north Indian city, the place experiences a hot and humid summer season and during this time people seek refuge in the hills. The city shares borders from one side with the state of Uttarakhand and hence there are several interesting hilly options where people can escape to. Among various options, Nainital is the most favoured one. Various other hill stations of Uttarakhand such as Binsar, Mukteshwar and Mussoorie can also visited.
Jageshwar is another popular hill stations where people from Lucknow prefer to visit owing to its religious significance and natural beauty. Only an hour's drive from Binsar, Jageshwar is renowned for the Golu Devta Temple. The destination, located amidst pine trees and hills, is photographer’s delight. The Jageshwar temple complex here is another prominent attraction which is a protected monument displaying delicate architecture. The complex is home to some 100 shrines and a large number of visitors and devotees come here to seek blessings of the presiding deity. Built somewhere in the 9th century, these temples are set in the beautiful Jataganga river valley. Some of the temples here are under the protection of Archaeological Survey of India and have around 25 inscriptions. Some of the most important ones here include the Jageshwar Mahadev, Sri Mahamritunjaya Mahadev, Jhanker Sham Mahadev, Kot Ling Mahadev, Dandeshwar Shiv temple complex etc.
Mukteshwar and Mussoorie are two of the other major preferences when it comes to hill stations near Lucknow. These places are picturesque and can make your ailing soul happy once again. So, go ahead and plac your trip to these amazing hill stations this summer!
