Like Deira, Bur Dubai is one of the city’s oldest districts, and is the only place where visitors can view architecture dating back more than 30 years. Bastakiya, Heritage Village and the house of the former ruler Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum all hark back to the 19th century (some more restored than others), and each give a glimpse of what life was like in the region pre-development. Like Deira, Bur Dubai is one of the city’s oldest districts, and is the only place where visitors can view architecture dating back more than 30 years. Bastakiya, Heritage Village and the house of the former ruler Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum all hark back to the 19th century (some more restored than others), and each give a glimpse of what life was like in the region pre-development.
Neighbouring Karama is a 10-minute walk from the Creek The area is host to a large community of Indian and Pakistani families, and as such, has a large array of fantastically authentic Subcontinental grub. It is also the go-to district for designer knock-offs.
