Morgan Riddle sparks controversy with sharp response to New York Times article about modern dating
The article was originally published under the headline “Being Straight is Great Actually” before later being changed to “There’s Nothing Wrong With Wanting Men.” Riddle strongly disagreed with the piece and questioned both its timing and its message. Her comments quickly gained attention across social media, with many users weighing in on the debate. The discussion has since become one of the most talked-about topics involving the influencer, who is often seen supporting Fritz during ATP Tour events.
Taylor Fritz’s girlfriend Morgan Riddle strongly criticized the article and revisited her past comments on gender issues
Sharing screenshots and her reaction on Instagram, Morgan Riddle said she believed the article pushed a harmful narrative about women. Referring to the original headline, she wrote:
She also criticized the article’s discussion of what was described as “hetero-optimism.” According to Riddle, the piece suggested that problems in modern dating come from people’s attitudes rather than larger issues that women often discuss publicly.
Riddle went further and questioned the background of the article’s writer. In another Instagram post, she said:
The influencer also reposted a message that read: “Watching men crumble over the exact energy they have given women for centuries.”
This is not the first time Riddle has openly discussed gender-related topics. During an appearance on the Mean But True podcast, she spoke about her personal experiences and how they shaped her views.
At the time, she said: “I don’t think feminism is enough, I think we need more misandry.”
Riddle later explained that her views were influenced by books she had read about online hate groups and violence against women, as well as difficult experiences in her own life.
She added: “Someone said this to me last week, like ‘oh is this part of your man-hating schtick?’. And I was like ‘schtick?… No, it’s the result of me having really, really horrible, scary experiences with men.’”
Meanwhile, Taylor Fritz is preparing for the grass-court season. The American’s French Open campaign ended on May 24, 2026, when he lost to Nishesh Basavareddy. His next scheduled tournament is the Boss Open in Stuttgart, Germany, which begins on June 8.
