Nick Cassidy makes huge age-gap blunder while guessing Jean-Eric Vergne's age in teammates challenge
Citroen Racing drivers Jean-Eric Vergne and Nick Cassidy recently took part in a Teammates Challenge as part of a fun off-track activity. Formula E has been on a month-long break following the Monaco E-Prix, giving drivers a chance to unwind before the season resumes. During the challenge, the pair answered a range of questions about one another, from who is the funniest to who has the most extravagant victory celebrations.
During the quiz, Cassidy named Vergne as the more competitive of the two, a view that the Frenchman readily agreed with. However, when asked who complains the most during a race, Cassidy pointed to himself. He also credited Vergne as being the funniest teammate and the one with the better taste in music.
Vergne, meanwhile, named Cassidy as the driver who talks more during team meetings. However, Cassidy came out on top when it came to the best race-winning celebrations. The New Zealander is well known for celebrating victories by singing Taylor Swift's Love Story alongside his team members.
When asked who was most likely to remain involved in motorsport after retirement, Vergne appeared keen on the idea. "Actually, I could stay in racing as a team principal. Yeah, I could," he said. Cassidy, on the other hand, seemed far less interested in pursuing a post-retirement career within the sport.
The final question left Cassidy genuinely surprised when the pair were asked to guess the age difference between them. Believing there was an eight- or nine-year gap, Cassidy was met with a joking response from Vergne: "Are you that young?" In reality, the difference between them is only four years.
Reacting to the video, one fan commented: "Would love to see more challenges between the drivers. Loved it and enjoyed it." Another supporter, hoping for more success for Cassidy, wrote: "We'd love to see the Love Story winning celebration back."
Cassidy made the switch from Jaguar TCS Racing to Citroen Racing and has enjoyed a much stronger campaign. He currently occupies seventh place in the championship with 71 points, having secured three podium finishes, including a victory. Cassidy won the Mexico City E-Prix, a race that has produced the eventual Formula E champion in each of the past three seasons.
