Temples, Taj, and Thar: An epic 15-day adventure in the heart of North India

North India is a land of contrasts in the real sense. You will get so much variety from the towering Himalayan peaks to the breathtaking views of the vast Thar Desert that you will feel like travelling to more countries in one go. In today’s fast paced life, it’s indeed difficult to curate a long trip covering the entire region, but if you are up for that ultimate adventure, here, we have curated a 15-day road trip across this diverse region, covering an ideal mix of natural beauty, cultural heritage, and all in between. Do share your suggestions in the comments if you think there needs to be more places that can be added in the itinerary.
So, here we go…

Day 1-3: Delhi

First up is Delhi from where we start our journey, India's capital, where history and modernity coexist. Here, spend your time wisely to cover some of the iconic landmarks such as the Red Fort, Humayun’s Tomb, and India Gate. Spare some time to explore the bustling markets of Chandni Chowk and savour street food delights. If you can, don’t miss a visit to the Lotus Temple and Akshardham Temple for a spiritual retreat.

3/6

Day 4-6: Rishikesh and Haridwar

From here, head out to Rishikesh, the ‘Yoga Capital of the World,’ nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas. Time for some activity now. Enjoy white-water rafting on the Ganges and practice yoga by the riverbanks. Then you can also keep Haridwar on the itinerary to witness the mesmerizing Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Pauri. Both the places have some of the most popular temples like Neelkanth Mahadev Temple, Trayambakeshwar Temple, Chandi Devi Temple, and more for your spiritual sojourn.

4/6

Day 7-9: Agra and Jaipur

Head to Agra to marvel at the Taj Mahal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and explore the Agra Fort. Then, continue to Jaipur, the ‘Pink City,’ known for the Hawa Mahal, City Palace, and the majestic Amer Fort. Don’t miss a traditional Rajasthani meal when here and shop for handicrafts in the bustling bazaars.

5/6

Day 10-12: Jodhpur and Jaisalmer

Journey to Jodhpur, the ‘Blue City,’ and visit the imposing Mehrangarh Fort and Jaswant Thada. Then, move towards Jaisalmer, the ‘Golden City,’ where the grand Jaisalmer Fort awaits. This is your entryway to the Thar Desert—a vast, golden expanse stretching across western Rajasthan. Experience a camel safari through the Sam Sand Dunes, soak in a spectacular desert sunset, and enjoy an overnight stay in a desert camp under a starlit sky.

6/6

Day 13-15: Udaipur
