Signs you are too self-absorbed

Signs you are too self-absorbed

We all have seen or have that one person who makes everything about them. No self-centred person likes to hear that they are "self-absorbed" most of the time. However, it's pretty hard for others to deal with them. The self-absorbed person shows the characterises of a selfish person and may harm their mental health in the process of loving themselves "too much", and so, people just detach themselves from such people. If you are facing the same problem of detachment, chances are high that people are no longer interested in any of your matters because you seem self-centric to them. Here are few signs that you are turning into a self-absorbed person.

2/7

You take the last call, always

One of the obvious signs that you are turning into a self-absorbed person is, you always have to take the last call. Whether it's a minor dinner or going on a trip, you decide where everyone will go or even which clothes are appropriate.

3/7

You think everyone is in competition

You are always bragging about your achievements just after someone finishes talking about their project. You think that everyone is competing against you and you have to win anyhow. Even after someone confides in you with their problems, you unintentionally talk about how your issues are more significant.

4/7

Manipulation is your forte

You know how to roll the dice in your favour, and it takes you few minutes to manipulate someone to do so. You exhibit signs of narcissism and emotional blackmailing while getting the work done. People aren't always pleased to help you because of your behaviour.

5/7

Toxic positivity

You don't feel sympathetic towards anyone. You just say what "has to be said" to keep the relation and want to sound concerned even when you aren't. You indulge in fake positivity and words of comfort that don't seem genuine and which you don't mean at all.

6/7

Back to you

No matter what the person is saying to you, you are always thinking of bringing back the conversation to you. After fake praise or comfort, you tend to find topics that involve more you than the person and how you can tell them about yourself more.

7/7

The centre of attention

You have to be the centre of attention; otherwise, everyone else has to pay. You know how to tailor or crop the conversation to bring it back to you. Even in meetings or workplaces, you have to take the centre seat even at the cost of upsetting someone. If that couldn't happen, you will express your boredom through gestures, comments and body language.
