India's Republic Day is celebrated on January 26 every year to commemorate the historic day when the Constitution of India came into effect. It is noted that though the constitution of India was ready and formally adopted on November 26, 1949, it officially came into effect on January 26, 1950. The Constitution of India is considered as the lengthiest Constitution in the world. It took the drafting committee headed by B.R Ambedkar roughly 2 years, 11 months and 18 days to draft the Indian constitution.
