​‘Pizza’ to ‘Asuran’, Dussehra releases from Kollywood that turned blockbusters

Dussehra aka Ayudha Pooja is one of the most celebrated festivals by Indians, and the grand festival has been celebrated for nine days. Tamil filmmakers didn't miss occupying the theaters on the occasion of Dussehra. Several movies that were released for Dussehra have made it big at the box office and have transformed into blockbusters. 'Asuran'

Dhanush starrer 'Asuran' was released in 2019 on Dussehra and Vetri Maaran's directorial presented two different shades of the dynamic actor. Dhanush proved his skills by essaying an elderly father of three kids, and his fiery flashback surprised the audience. 'Asuran' turned out as the actor's first 100 crores grosser and the film also bagged him the National Award for Best Actor.

'Vada Chennai'

After 'Aadukalam', Dhanush reunited with director Vetri Maaran for 'Vada Chennai' after a long gap. The film took more time for its production as it was planned to be released in two parts and the extension increased the film's expectations as well. However, Dhanush and Vetri Maaran didn't fail to satisfy the expectations, and the film received a great response from the fans. Meanwhile, the second part of the film is yet to be shot and the expectations are higher for it as well.

'Remo'

Sivakarthikeyan's 'Remo', which was directed by Bakkiyaraj Kannan, was released in 2016. The romantic drama received good reviews and turned out to be a successful film, and, the songs composed by Anirudh Ravichander turned into chartbusters. Keerthy Suresh played the female lead opposite Sivakarthikeyan in the film. Sivakarthikeyan also donned a female avatar in the film.

'Naanum Rowdy Dhaan'

'Naanum Rowdy Dhaan' featuring Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara is one of the biggest hits and the film was released for Dussehra 2015. The success of Vignesh Shivan's directorial gave the breakthrough for the director.

'Pizza'

Karthik Subbaraj's directorial 'Pizza' was released in 2012 on Ayudha Pooja and the suspense thriller impressed the audience. The massive success of the film earned fame for the talented Vijay Sethupathi and he made use of the film's success to transform into Makkal Selvan. Ramya Nambeesan played the female lead, and the thriller film has a fanbase of its own.
