The week that was! Priyadarshan to Prithviraj Sukumaran, M-Town celebs who made headlines

From Prithviraj Sukumaran wrapping up the Jordan schedule of the ‘Aadujeevitham’ shoot, to Priyadarshan planning to direct Shane Nigam, here’s a list of who and what made headlines in M-Town last week.

Veteran filmmaker Priyadarshan will be directing M-Town's young star, Shane Nigam. The upcoming movie will go on floors in September. As per the reports, actors Arjun Ashokan, Shine Tom Chacko, Sidhique, Johny Antony, Maniyanpilla Raju, and, Appani Sharath too are part of the cast. The team is yet to make an official announcement.

Actor D Philip passed away on June 12, at the age of 79. He has acted in over 50 Malayalam films including ‘Kottayam Kunjachan’, ‘Vettam’, ‘Onnaman’, ‘Pazhassi Raja’, ‘Time’, ‘Ezhupunnatharakan’, and ‘Onnaman’ among others. M-Town celebs paid homage to the actor.

Soubin Shahir, Sudhy Koppa, and Jude Anthany Joseph will be headlining an upcoming film titled ‘Ila Veezha Poonchira’. The film is helmed by Shahir Kabir, who has previously scripted ‘Joseph’ and ‘Nayattu’. The film’s title is inspired by the name of a place Ila Veezha Poonchira, which is a tourist spot situated at about 3,500 ft in Thodupuzha. The place is important for the film, as there is a police wireless station - called a repeater station - that receives the wireless communication of the whole of the Kottayam district. “If there is a problem here, the entire network gets affected. The story is about the policemen working here,” the director told Kochi Times.

Actress Shaalin Zoya is turning into a filmmaker. This week, she announced the wrap-up of her debut directorial. “It’s about a family, we all can relate to. The film takes the audience through the lives of three members of a family - a father, who works in lights and sounds department shop, his livelihood has been upended by the pandemic, the mother, who runs a tailoring business, and a TikTok-savvy daughter. Our film parallelly portrays their lives from each of their perspectives,” she said, while speaking exclusively to ETimes.

After around two months, Prithviraj Sukumaran has wrapped up the Jordan schedule of his ambitious film ‘Aadujeevitham’. Directed by Blessy, the film is based on the eponymous novel by Benyamin. “#Aadujeevitham foreign schedule done! Coming home! What a journey! ❤️❤️❤️,” Prithviraj Sukumaran said, while wrapping the schedule in Jordan.
