Based on a Gujarati play

'102 Not Out' is actually based on a Gujarati play of the same name. Filmmaker Umesh Shukla once disclosed that he was producing the play '102 Not Out' for almost six years after which he realised that the film had universal appeal. Amitabh Bachchan playing a Centenarian

Actors playing characters much older than their actual age is not new but a veteran actor playing a centenarian is almost unheard of. This is exactly what Big B has pulled off in '102 Not Out'. While even playing an Octogenarian has been somewhat rare in Bollywood which often glorifies youth, the Megastar is playing a 102-year-old man, making it truly a one of a kind character. In fact, even Rishi Kapoor plays a 75-year-old man, making it one of those really rare films where all central characters are senior citizens.

‘102 Not Out’ initially clashed with ‘Padmaavat’

'102 Not Out' was initially set to release on December 1, last year. This was when 'Padmaavat' was still titled as 'Padmavati' and was scheduled to release in November. However, when the release of the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film was pushed back to December, the makers of '102 Not Out' were forced to shift the release date of their movie to next year. Now, to avoid a clash with all big and important films, the comedy-drama has finally been scheduled to release on May 4th this year.
