Bollywood celebs and controversies often go hand-in-hand. Currently, Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan is hitting headlines post his arrest by the NCB in an alleged drug case. The star kid is currently in judicial custody. but he is not the only one who made headlines this year. From Kangana Ranaut’s Twitter account being suspended to Shilpa Shetty’s husband Raj Kundra’s arrest in a pornography case, here’s taking a look at the controversies that rocked Bollywood in 2021...

In March this year, the income tax department raided the house and offices of Taapsee Pannu, Anurag Kashyap, and others. She spoke about the raid in a tweet that read, "3 days of intense search of 3 things primarily. 1. The keys of the “alleged” bungalow that I apparently own in Paris. Because summer holidays are around the corner. 2. The “alleged” receipt worth 5 crores to frame n keep for future pitching coz I’ve been refused that money before 3. My memory of the 2013 raid that happened with me according to our honourable Finance Minister. PS 'not so sasti' anymore". Her rumoured boyfriend Mathias Boe was seen standing by her like a rock.

Kartik Aaryan made headlines after he was dropped out of Karan Johar’s ‘Dostana 2’. After speculations started doing the rounds, Karan’s production house issued a statement that read, “Due to professional circumstances, on which we have decided to maintain a dignified silence—we will be recasting 'Dostana 2', directed by Collin D’Cunha. Please wait for the official announcement soon”. It was also being said that Kartik was removed from Shah Rukh Khan production’s film even though no official statement was released.

On October 2 late at night, the NCB raided a cruise ship in Mumbai and busted a drug party. The officers nabbed Aryan and seven others from the ship. On October 3, Shah Rukh’s son was arrested by the NCB in a drug case. Currently, he is in judicial custody which got extended till October 30. His lawyers have also approached the Bombay High Court and his bail plea was heard on October 26. The court is currently hearing the bail applications of others who got arrested along with Aryan. Today, his bail application will be heard again. Amid his arrest, the NCB also summoned Chunky Panday’s daughter Ananya Panday for interrogation. They found WhatsApp chats of Ananya and Aryan where they were discussing drugs. She has been questioned twice and has been summoned again.

Shilpa Shetty’s husband Raj Kundra was arrested in July this year in a pornography case. He was named as the ‘key conspirator’ in the entire case, and was recently released from the Arthur road jail. The businessman was granted bail on a surety of Rs 50,000 after spending two months in jail.

Salman Khan sent a defamation suit to Kamaal R Khan after the latter accused the superstar of corruption and money laundering. KRK claimed that Salman filed the lawsuit because of his unfavourable review of ‘Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai’. But Salman’s lawyer maintained that it was because of his allegations. Singer Mika Singh slammed KRK over this and also released a song against him titled ‘KRK Kutta’.

Kangana Ranaut, who is known as the Queen of controversies, had her fair share of issues this year too. Her Twitter account was suspended for repeatedly violating the rules on hateful and abusive behaviour. Twitter had earlier removed some of her tweets after she got into a spat with singer Rihanna over her reactions to the farmers’ protests. Last year, her sister Rangoli Chandel’s account was also suspended because of her hate speech.
