'Phone Bhoot' to Deepika Padukone-Prabhas starrer sci-fi drama – Films announced during lockdown

Bollywood refused to stop working because of the lockdown. While actors engaged in virtual script reading sessions and remotely indulged in preps for their films, several new Bollywood ventures were also announced. From Ajay Devgn's film on India-China clash in Galwan valley to Deepika Padukone and Prabhas uniting for the first time – here’s taking a look at films that were announced during lockdown.

Ajay Devgn to make a film on Galwan valley clash

Ajay Devgn is all set to make a film on the India-China Galwan valley clash. The fatal face-off took place on June 15 and 20 Indian soldiers were martyred. The yet untitled film will be produced by Ajay Devgn under his banner. However it is not clear if the actor will be essaying the lead in this real life inspired war drama, as the cast has not been announced yet.

Katrina Kaif, Ishaan Khatter, Siddhant Chaturvedi's 'Phone Bhoot'

Katrina Kaif, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ishaan Khatter starrer ‘Phone Bhoot’ was recently announced, claiming to be a ‘one stop shop for all bhoot related problems’. The horror comedy will be directed by Gurmmeet Singh and produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani under their banner Excel Entertainment. The team had shot for the first look poster before lockdown and social distancing norms were implemented. Along with the announcement of the film, it was also revealed that ‘Phone Bhoot’ will hit the screens in 2021.

Deepika Padukone, Prabhas unite for a sci-fi drama

Deepika Padukone and Prabhas will romance on the silver screen for the first time ever, with National award-winning filmmaker Nag Ashwin calling the shots. The yet-to-be titled venture is a sci-fi drama mounted on a massive scale. Touted to be a visual spectacle, the film will be released in Hindi as well as all South languages."Deepika and Prabhas will be one of the main highlights of the film and the story between them will remain in the audiences’ hearts for many years to come,” Nag Ashwin had told ETimes.

Rajkummar Rao signed up for Hindi remake of 'HIT'

South remakes continue to rule the roost in Bollywood and recently Rajkummar Rao signed up the play the lead in the Hindi remake of Telugu cop thriller ‘HIT’, which stands for Homicide Intervention Team. The Bollywood film will be directed by Sailesh Kolanu, who had also called the shots for the original Telugu film. ‘Hit’ will narrate the story of a police officer who is on the trail of a missing woman. “When I saw 'HIT', I instantly connected with it. It's an engaging story, relevant in today's environment. As an actor, I am always on the look out to play characters I haven't explored and 'HIT' gives me a chance to do that,” Rajkummar Rao had told Mumbai Mirror.
