The coronavirus outbreak that turned into a worldwide pandemic and resulted in lockdowns across the globe, changed the way we celebrate festivals in India, especially ones like Holi, which is a community-wide celebration. The festival of colours not only celebrates unity in diversity but is yet another reason for families, neighbours, and friends to come together for a day of bonhomie. But given the situation in the country, celebrations will be muted this year which means no extravagant Holi bashes thrown by Bollywood celebs where the industry would gather and dunk each other in colour. So, we decided to take a trip down memory lane and bring you pictures of old Holi parties thrown by Bollywood celebrities.

Ranveer Singh hosted a bright and colourful Holi party for international singer Pharrell Williams back in 2018. The grand do was attended by a host of celebrities from B-town that included VJ Anusha, Masterchef Australia alumna Sara Todd, Mini Mathur, Ananya Panday, and many others. Needless to say, Ranveer was the soul of the party and his vibrant energy set the mood just right.

Talking about Bollywood's lavish Holi parties, it's impossible to forget one thrown by Shah Rukh Khan in 2000. From SRK’s friends pushing him into a pool to him shaking a leg with wife Gauri, it was truly a celebration to remember and pictures from the party are still a hit on social media. Subhash Ghai, and Chunky Panday were among the many attendees.

Hit Holi songs like ‘Rang Barse’, ‘Holi Khele Raghuveera’ and ‘Holi Ke Din Mil Jaate Hain’, featuring Amitabh Bachchan are still a hit at Holi parties, just like Holi celebrations were at the Bachchan house. Like Diwali, Bachchans' Holi parties, too, are an affair to remember. Upon their arrival, guests are anointed with a tika on the forehead and welcomed with gulal before full-fledged celebrations begin. The family now celebrates the festival at a much smaller scale, and only with each other.

The Kapoors' Holi party was an occasion for the entire film fraternity to come together. The Kapoors were known to throw grand Holi parties at RK Studios, hosted by the legendary Raj Kapoor himself and these throwback pictures are proof of the same. Seen enjoying the party are celebs like Amitabh Bachchan, Prem Chopra, Shammi Kapoor, Nargis, Hema Malini, and many others.

Shabana Azmi and Javed Akhtar throw Holi parties to continue the 40-year-long tradition that was initiated by Shabana’s late father, Kaifi Azmi. The couple looks completely in a festive mood as they host their friends and Bollywood counterparts. If their pictures from 2018 are anything to go by, they had an absolute blast at the bash.
