Movie posters that marked the beginning of Bengali New Year 2019

Are you curious about what your favourite film celebrities are up to in this Bengali New Year? Well, the social media was flooded with new film announcement and first-look posters from upcoming Bengali films. It was a grand celebration of Tollywood which marked the joyous occasion of Poila Baishakh. From Abir Chatterjee’s new treasure hunt drama to Jisshu-Abir coming together for a nail-biting thriller, these exciting Bengali movie posters marked the beginning of the Bengali New Year.

Shesh Theke Shuru

The first look poster of Sesh Theke Shuru features Jeet in a glamorous look. The poster also released his character name. In this Raj Chakraborty directorial, he plays Mashid. Koel Mallick will be seen opposite Jeet after a long time. Sesh Theke is set to hit the screen during Eid. It will be a major box office clash with Dev and Rukmini starrer Kidnap. Beside the lead pair of Jeet and Koel, in ‘Sesh Theke Shuru’ Ritabhari Chakraborty is playing the second female lead. According to industry sources, the film starts when the lead pair crosses each other’s path in a flight.

Ghawre Bairey Aaj

The wait is finally over! Here’s the first look poster from Aparna Sen’s ‘Ghawre Bairey Aaj’ inspired by Rabindranath Tagore’s classic novel ‘Ghawre Bairey’. The poster, on the backdrop of a social turmoil, introduces Nikhilesh, Bimala and Sandip played by Anirban Bhattacharya, Tuhina Das and Jisshu Sengupta respectively. The growing tension reflecting in the trio’s eyes will surely double your excitement. While Anirban Bhattacharya will be seen as Nikhilesh, Jisshu Sengupta will essay the character of Sandip. In 1984 these two roles were supremely enacted by Victor Banerjee and Soumitra Chatterjee respectively in Satyajit Ray’s screen adaptation of the same novel. Young actress Tuhina Das has been cast as Brinda, a modern take on the character Bimala which was played by Swatilekha Sengupta in the Ray classic. Tuhina was earlier seen in Arindam Sil’s ‘Aschhe Abar Shabor’. Anjan Dutt will be seen as Mastarmoshai, which was earlier played by Manoj Mitra in Ray’s film.

Durgeshgorer Guptodhon

‘Guptodhoner Sondhane’ hasn’t yet faded out from any Bengali movie buff’s platter and the overwhelming box office response last year has convinced director Dhrubo Banerjee to enthrall the audience with one more story that has the same amounts of adventure, thrill and brain-teaser like the first one. We already know the second installment in the treasure hunt series ‘Durgeshgorer Guptodhon’ has the same star cast of Abir Chatterjee, Arjun Chakraborty and Ishaa Saha. Now, the wait is over. Here’s the first look poster from the treasure hunt drama featuring the protagonists Sona Da aka Prof. Suborno Sen and two of his sidekicks Abir and Jhinuk.

Bornoporichoy

Mainak Bhaumik’s ‘Bornoporichoy’ stars Abir Chatterjee and Jisshu Sengupta who will be sharing the screen space together in lead roles for the first time. Priyanka Sarkar plays the female lead. The first poster from the action thriller was released on the joyous occasion of International Mother Language Day, February 21. It turned out to be an instant hit. And now, the second poster has been released which shows a crowded place where three faces become prominent – Abir, Jisshu and Priyanka. ‘Bornoporichoy’ is an intense suspense thriller revolving around Dhananjoy, an alcoholic thrown out retired detective department officer who lost his family, job and mind due to his obsession trying to solve cases involving meaningless killings by a serial killer named Arko. The crisis eventually leads to a gripping cat-and-mouse chase with viscerally exciting sequences.

Bibaho Obhijaan

The first look poster of ‘Bibaho Obhijaan’ can straightaway put a smile on our face. The poster features all the protagonists in the movie - Ankush, Rudranil Ghosh, Sohini Sarkar, Priyanka Sarkar, Nusraat Faria and Anirban Bhattacharya. And, all of them have been introduced in a never-seen-before avatar. The poster itself confirms director Birsa Dasgupta’s upcoming film will be a fun-filled ride with friends and family. The story sees two husbands always in the run to escape from their wives and another husband is desperate to get back his wife.
