Residents argue with TVK MLA over land deeds

Trichy: Residents of Gandarvakottai argued with TVK MLA N Subramanian on Thursday for refusing to help resolve their long-pending grievance seeking land deeds.

On Thursday, Subramanian visited several places including Kaveri Nagar to thank the voters. During the visit, residents including TVK members gave him a petition requesting land deeds for the sites where they have been living.

The MLA reportedly told them he cannot intervene as land had been handed over to a private mill on contract as per official records. When the residents countered that their residential area was not part of the mill contract and insisted it was a settlement zone, the situation turned tense.

A visibly frustrated Subramanian said he could not do anything about the issue, while asking them to approach him for help in other matters. The public and party workers present were shocked by the MLA’s remarks. The video of the incident has gone viral on social media.
