NEET aspirant from Bihar dies by suicide in Koderma
Koderma: A 16-year-old female medical aspirant from Bihar allegedly died by suicide at her rented accommodation in Chitragupta Nagar area under the Tilaiya police station limits of Koderma district late Sunday, police said.
The deceased was identified as Ruchi Kumari, a native of Nawada in Bihar.
The incident came to light when Ruchi, who was attending an online mock test as part of her NEET coaching in her room, did not come out for dinner. Concerned, her parents knocked repeatedly but received no response. They then forced open the door and found her hanging from the ceiling fan. She was rushed to a nearby private hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead, police added.
Father of deceased, Sanjay Kumar Singh, said, “The family had been living in Koderma for the past 12 years to ensure better education for their children.”
“Ruchi had appeared for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) held last month and was highly confident of securing a seat. She was very optimistic about her performance. The cancellation and rescheduling of the exam deeply upset her. She remained under severe stress despite counselling and family support,” the LIC agent and medical representative said.
The officer in-charge of the Tilaiya police station, Vinay Kumar, said, “The body has been sent to the Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examination. A case of unnatural death has been registered, based on the father’s statement. Further investigation is under way."
