Elderly Mahadalit man beaten to death in Palamu

Daltonganj: An elderly Mahadalit man was found murdered in an agricultural field located near his house at Karar village in Palamu district on Wednesday, police said.The officer in-charge of the Panki police station, Deepak Kumar Singh, said, “The body of the deceased, identified as Dhanraj Bhuiyan of Nadgarh hamlet, was spotted by the village chowkidar, who alerted the police. The body bore marks of lathi blows.”Dhanraj is learnt to have owned around 14 decimals of land. He was living alone after his wife predeceased him and his children allegedly abandoned him, villagers said.The body was sent to the Medininagar Medical College and Hospital (MMCH), Daltonganj, for post-mortem examination.
