Mandya: DCC Bank president Sachin Cheluvarayaswamy, on Monday, urged students to focus on developing skills and wisdom, saying academic scores alone cannot guarantee success in life.He was speaking at a talent award ceremony for meritorious students and a felicitation programme for achievers at Gandhi Bhavan in Mandya. The event was jointly organised by the district Congress committee and the N Cheluvarayaswamy Fans Association to mark the birthday celebrations of district in-charge minister N Cheluvarayaswamy.Addressing SSLC and PUC students, Sachin Cheluvarayaswamy asked them to set ambitious goals and prepare for competitive examinations for services such as IAS, KAS, IRS and IPS. He said skill development, determination and continuous learning are essential for success in today’s competitive world.Writer and retired principal Ma Ramakrishna said birthdays become meaningful when celebrated by the people.Achievers from various fields were felicitated, including Prasannakumar Keragodu (education), Dr Murali Mohan R (medical), Umesh Shivara (folklore), Madhukumar Karekatte (agriculture) and Dr Devika NS (folk literature). Students who excelled in the SSLC examinations were also honoured with talent awards.
