Rain cools Ludhiana, but heat set to return
Ludhiana: Overnight rain brought a brief spell of relief from the heat in the city Friday, though temperatures are set to climb again in the coming days, the Met department said.
Light showers late Thursday and a cool morning breeze kept conditions pleasant early Friday, before clear skies and sunshine returned for the rest of the day.
Ludhiana recorded 6.2mm rainfall between 8.30am Thursday and 8.30am Friday. No rain was reported thereafter till Friday evening.
The impact was visible on temperatures, with the maximum settling at 36.4°C—2.8 degrees below normal and 4 degrees lower than the previous day. The minimum dropped to 23.2°C, also below normal.
The Met department has forecast dry weather in the immediate days ahead, with a fresh spell of rain likely around June 10.
Residents welcomed the brief change in weather after days of uncomfortable heat. Parks and public spaces saw higher footfall in the morning as people stepped out to enjoy the cooler conditions, while children made the most of the pleasant spell outdoors.
