Etawah Deputy CMO caught red-handed taking ₹55,000 bribe
Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Vigilance Establishment on Wednesday caught Etawah deputy chief medical officer (Deputy CMO) Dr Srinivas Yadav red-handed while allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹55,000 from a complainant.
According to officials, the action was initiated following a complaint received on June 4, 2026.
The complainant alleged that he had applied for a permission to open an ultrasound centre, in the name of his wife.
However, he alleged that the application file was not being processed, and Deputy CMO was demanding ₹55,000 as illegal gratification for forwarding and clearing the proposal.
Following the complaint, vigilance officials conducted a discreet verification of the allegations which were found to be correct.
Based on the findings, the superintendent of police, vigilance establishment, constituted a special trap team to apprehend the accused while accepting the bribe. After planning the operation and completing legal formalities, the team laid a trap on June 10, inside the office premises of the CMO in Etawah.
Officials said that when the complainant handed over the predetermined amount of ₹55,000 to Dr Yadav, the vigilance team immediately moved in and caught him red-handed while allegedly accepting the bribe.
Authorities stated that a criminal case is being registered against Dr Srinivas Yadav at the Uttar Pradesh Vigilance Establishment Police Station, under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act and other applicable laws.
Officials added that further investigation is underway to ascertain whether any other persons were involved in the alleged bribery and to examine the circumstances surrounding the processing of the ultrasound clinic application.
