CM Yogi orders strict quality, deadline compliance for police housing projects
Lucknow: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday directed officials to ensure that no compromise is made on the quality and timely execution of police housing and infrastructure projects across the state.
Reviewing the functioning of the Uttar Pradesh Police Housing Corporation, the CM said better residential and workplace facilities are essential to improve the efficiency and morale of police personnel.
He instructed officials to complete the construction of police lines, police stations, barracks, fire stations and other infrastructure projects within stipulated timelines while strictly adhering to technical and quality standards.
Emphasising the importance of robust infrastructure for modern policing, the CM said all projects must be developed with durability, safety and utility in mind.
During the meeting, officials informed the CM that the Police Housing Corporation is currently executing projects in all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh.
A total of 233 construction projects are being carried out through six construction units, out of which 221 projects are progressing within the prescribed timeline.
Officials further stated that between 2023 and May 20, 2026, the corporation completed 1,586 construction projects worth approximately Rs 1,104 crore.
These include multi-storey barracks, transit hostels, police station buildings, fire stations, police outposts, GRP barracks, ATS field units and projects related to Mahakumbh-2025 preparations. Infrastructure upgrades such as women's washroom facilities in police stations have also been undertaken.
The meeting was also informed that the corporation has remained profitable and has earned a profit of Rs 11.14 crore so far in the financial year 2025-26.
To ensure construction quality, systems such as third-party inspections, material testing and mobile app-based real-time monitoring have been implemented.
The chief minister directed officials to conduct regular monitoring of all projects and seek assistance from technical experts wherever required. He also instructed that additional manpower be deployed if necessary to ensure timely completion of projects.
Highlighting accountability and transparency, Yogi directed that all projects should undergo periodic third-party audits through reputed institutions. He further instructed officials to regularly review ongoing works and develop modern, secure and functional infrastructure in line with the evolving needs of the police force.
The CM also directed that all vacant posts in the corporation should be filled strictly on the basis of merit.
