CM meets Amul brass as dairy co plans Bengal expansion
Kolkata: CM Suvendu Adhikari on Saturday met Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) managing director Jayen Mehta, and Amit Vyas, the head of Kaira District Co-operative Milk Producers' Union, also known as Amul Dairy, at the state secretariat.In a Facebook post, Adhikari said, "In the coming days, the investment and business expansion of a large, renowned organisation like Amul in Bengal will play a crucial role in the state's economic development, job creation, and the growth of the dairy industry. The meeting involved detailed discussions on the expansion of the organisation in Bengal, investment possibilities and the development of the dairy sector. The discussions were very fruitful, and I am hopeful that new horizons will open up through mutual cooperation between Bengal and Amul in the future."Amul has said it will invest Rs 600–650 crore to establish its first wholly-owned, mega dairy processing plant at the Sankrail Food Park in Howrah. The integrated plant is set to feature the world's largest curd manufacturing facility.
