Times News Network
Kanpur: A driver’s negligence involving a car parked along the road became fatal for a family on Tuesday. The driver abruptly opened the car door without checking behind to spit gutka, and a man approaching from the rear on a scooty struck the door and died. The whole episode was recorded on a nearby CCTV camera.
Izhar Hussain (42), who lived in Roshan Nagar, Rawatpur, was employed at a government ration shop in the Beconganj area. He is survived by his wife, Gulkasha, and their four children. His relatives said that at about 2 pm on Tuesday, Izhar was riding home on his scooty after completing his duty. As he came in front of a hotel in Benajhabar, the person seated in a car parked on the roadside suddenly swung open the door to spit gutka. Izhar, unable to regain control in time, crashed into the open door with his scooty. Following the impact, he toppled onto the road and sustained severe injuries. Bystanders rushed him to Hallet Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
Family members said Izhar was the only earning member of the household. Witnesses stated that immediately after the crash, the driver escaped with the car. When people followed him, he left the car near Madhuraj Hospital Metro station and ran away.
Inspector Swaroop Nagar police station Devendra Singh said the body has been sent for post-mortem and the car has been seized. An FIR has been filed on the complaint submitted by the deceased’s relatives. The driver is being traced using CCTV footage and details linked to the vehicle.
