151 vehicles challaned for violating traffic rules
Times News NetworkKanpur: The district administration, on intervening night of May 28 and May 29, challaned as many as 151 vehicles for overloading and other offences and realised a Rs 11.25 lakh as fine and compounding fee.On late Thursday night, the administration launched a drive against motorists violating traffic rules on the highway. Acting on the directives of district magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh, a joint team comprising officials of revenue, Police, transport, and mining departments conducted an intensive checking drive in the Narwal area.During this joint operation conducted at night, the team carried out a thorough inspection of vehicles traveling along the highway. Vehicles operating without number plates, unauthorized and overloaded vehicles, and drivers found violating traffic rules were identified, and appropriate action was taken against them.During the campaign, the transport department issued challans to 95 vehicles, collecting ₹847,000 as fine, the police department issued challans to 52 vehicles, collecting ₹78,500. The mining department took action against 4 vehicles, collecting a compounding fee of ₹200,000. In total, 151 challans were issued. Vivek Kumar Mishra SDM Narval led the team. He was assisted by ACP Chakeri Abhishek Pandey, Manvendra Pratap Singh of the RTO department Parasnath district mining officer and nayab tehsildar Ashish Patel.A similar joint operation was held in Ghatampur on Wednesday in which 106 vehicles were challaned and Rs 6.47 lakh was realized as fine. The operation was led by SDM Avichal Pratap Singh.
