Vishwakarmas key to nation-building: Bommai
Former CM Basavaraj Bommai presents talent awards to SSLC, PUC students in Shiggaon on Sunday
Haveri: MP Basavaraj Bommai said Prime Minister Narendra Modi believes that Vishwakarmas play a fundamental role in nation-building and that the time has come for them to receive due respect and recognition. The former CM was speaking at Sri Sanganabasava Mangala Bhavan in Shiggaon town of Haveri district, where he inaugurated the third anniversary of the Haveri District Vishwakarma Employees Welfare Association on Sunday.Bommai said that in today’s society, developing foundational knowledge in education and computer-based artificial intelligence is essential for nation-building, and that the traditional skills of Vishwakarmas would gain global recognition. He noted that the unique blend of form, knowledge, perseverance, skill and concentration defines Vishwakarma. Referring to history, he said the spirit of Vishwakarma was evident in the evolution of early humans—from hunting and discovering fire to understanding food systems, building houses and establishing villages .He added that in the computer age, the original concepts of Vishwakarmas have evolved into artificial intelligence.Bommai also remarked that while creators design and build structures like temples, recognition often goes to others. Once a temple is completed and consecrated, the builders fade into the background while owners claim credit. However, he said, the earth and such creations endure, making the sculptors and labourers who built them eternal. He urged people not to belittle themselves and said that although Vishwakarmas contributed significantly to society, they remained largely unrecognised. Under the theme ‘good times are coming’, he expressed confidence that the community would soon receive due recognition. Pontiffs of various religious institutions and other leaders were present at the event.
