New Delhi: An on-duty traffic police officer was injured in a hit-and-run near the Sarai Julena traffic light in southeast Delhi on Wednesday morning. The injured, head constable Rahul Kumar, is undergoing treatment at a hospital.
Police said Kumar was on duty around 10.30 am when a speeding car, allegedly driven rashly, came from the wrong side and hit him before fleeing.
“A review of CCTV footage has led to the identification of the offending vehicle, a black Kia,” a senior officer said.
A case has been registered at New Friends Colony police station under BNS Sections 281, 125, 132, 221 and 121, along with relevant provisions of the
Motor Vehicles Act. Police said that efforts are on to trace the driver.
