Two men arrested for trying to sexually assault minor girl near Namakkal

NAMAKKAL: The Molasi police in Namakkal district have arrested two men on charges of trying to sexually assault a 10-year-old girl.The incident happened on Monday evening when the Class V girl was returning home from school. Two men on a motorcycle stopped her and spoke to her. “They offered her chocolates and took her to an isolated area, where they tried to sexually assault her. The girl managed to escape from the duo and informed the parents about the incident,” said an officer at the Molasi police station.Based on a complaint filed by the girl’s parents, the Molasi police registered a case, conducted inquiries and arrested the suspects -- identified as V Prabhakaran,30, and M Sakthivel,31, of Suriampalayam near Tiruchengode -- on Tuesday. Both are labourers.They were booked under sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and remanded in judicial custody.
