Panchkula: Panchkula traffic police Friday took action against a private bus operating without a valid permit, intercepting the vehicle and impounding it after issuing a challan.
The bus, plying from Bareilly (Uttar Pradesh) to Manimajra (Chandigarh) via Panchkula, was stopped near Mouli village on the Panchkula-Yamunanagar highway following a tip-off.
Officials said SHO (traffic) Surajpur Abhishek received information about the bus illegally ferrying passengers without a route permit. Acting on the input, he and his team tracked and intercepted the vehicle.
ACP (traffic) Surendra Singh said documents were checked on the spot, which revealed that the operator lacked a valid permit for the route. The police then issued a challan of Rs 41,000 and impounded the bus under provisions of the
Motor Vehicles Act.
