Bhubaneswar: City student Bhavesh Patra has emerged as the state topper in the JEE Advanced 2026 examination, the results of which were announced on Monday.
A student of Cohen International School, Bhavesh secured an All India Rank (AIR) of 29 and emerged as the Odisha State Rank 1 holder. He scored 293 marks out of a total of 360, making him the topper of the IIT Bhubaneswar zone.
Earlier this year, Bhavesh had secured a perfect 100 percentile in both Sessions 1 and 2 of JEE (Main) 2026 (BE/BTech), India’s largest engineering entrance examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
Bhavesh said he now aims to pursue a degree in computer science at
IIT Bombay. He attributed his success to discipline, consistency and focused preparation over the last two years. “Consistency is the key. I completely stayed away from social media during my preparation period, which helped me maintain focus. The only platform I used was WhatsApp to stay in touch with my teachers,” he said.
Apart from attending classes, Bhavesh devoted at least 10 hours every day to self-study and followed a disciplined schedule throughout his preparation.
Another student from the same school, Aryasmman Pradhan, secured an AIR of 314 and emerged as Odisha State Rank 2.
He scored 246 marks out of 360 and now plans to pursue BTech in electrical engineering from IIT Bombay.
“I did not limit my preparation to a fixed number of hours. Instead, I focused on studying with complete concentration whenever I sat down to learn. Mobile phones were a complete no-no for me during the preparation period,” Aryasmman said.
Congratulating the successful candidates, governor Hari Babu Kambhampati said the students had achieved a remarkable milestone through hard work and perseverance. “Those who qualified have achieved a remarkable milestone through hard work and perseverance. To those who did not get the desired result, do not be disheartened. This is only one step in your journey. Wishing every student success and a bright future ahead,” the governor wrote on X.
