CHIKKAMAGALURU: A 55-year-old woman was found dead at her residence in Chikkamagaluru on Wednesday after she shot herself with a licensed revolver owned by her, police said.
The deceased, identified as Suma, was a homemaker and lived in Halenahalli Layout in the town.
The incident took place when she was alone at home. Her husband, a businessman, was in Bengaluru for work at the time.
A suicide note was recovered from the house and is being examined as part of the probe. Police added that the note did not hold any individual responsible for her death.
Preliminary findings indiacated that the woman had been undergoing treatment for depression for the past two years and had reportedly been dealing with the condition for around five years. However, officials said the exact circumstances leading to her death are yet to be established.
The woman is survived by her husband and two children.
Her body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and the Basavanahalli police have registered a case of unnatural death.
Further investigation in the case is underway, police said.
