Karnataka student has featured in the top 10 ranks of Consortium Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka’s (Comed-K) undergraduate entrance test, the results for which were announced Friday.
Five toppers of the first six ranks were from Jharkhand. Rank 3 was from Uttarakhand. Rank 7 was from Andhra Pradesh, #8 from Chhattisgarh, #9 from Punjab and #10 from Bihar. Darshil Modi from Ranchi secured rank 1, Priyanuj Bhagabati of Jamshedpur, rank 2 and Shrestha Gupta of Dehradun, Uttarakhand, rank 3.
Darshil is currently in Jaipur, attending his coaching classes. He hopes to crack Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced). Shrestha is likely to join RV College of Engineering for computer science.
Last year, 4 of the top 10 students were from Karnataka.
Among the top 100 students, there are 30 Karnataka candidates. 11,207 candidates are in the 90th to 100th percentile. Out of this, 3,496 candidates are from Karnataka. Similarly, of the 11,385 candidates between the 80th and 90th percentile, 3,207 candidates are from Karnataka. Likewise, 10,940 candidates are between the 70th and 80th percentile, of which 3,111 candidates are from Karnataka.
Around 1,10,774 (36,954 Karnataka and 73,820 non-Karnataka) candidates wrote the test on May 9, 2026. The exam holds key to around 20,000 engineering seats in 150 private colleges of the state. “Since we have been hearing about so many exam scams, we have also checked the veracity as we noticed clustering of high ranks from one state. All the five students have secured more than 95% in class 10 and 12 marks. Additionally, we have also ordered a forensic audit of the centres in Jharkhand. Our team will check the CCTV footage and video recording of the exam and check the veracity,” said Dr S Kumar, executive secretary, ComedK.
“For the past 29 years, we have been conducting the exam without a glitch. We have also added a disclaimer on the website that if there is any evidence of malpractice, we will have the right to cancel their rank,” he added.
The counselling will be conducted online and the candidates have to upload the scanned copies of the documents. The number of seats available for being filled up, the quantum of tuition fees and counselling dates would be notified in due course.
A separate set of counselling process documents, detailing the procedure for participating in the counselling, will also be made available shortly on the website (www.comedk.org).
