Complaint against slain Massajog sarpanch’s brother & his cross-complaint both false, say Beed police
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Investigations have concluded that the murder attempt case against Dhananjay Deshmukh — the brother of slain Massajog sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh — as well as the cross-complaint filed by him against a distant relative were both false. The superintendent of police has said appropriate legal action will be taken against those who misused the system.
“After examining the CCTV footage, recording statements of the eyewitnesses and other investigations, it has been found that the complaint given by the complainant is false. The investigation has revealed that the complainant in both the said crimes deliberately misused the legal system by filing false complaints at the police station,” said Beed SP Navneet Kanwat in an official statement.
“A detailed report in this regard will be submitted to the court, and appropriate legal action will be taken as per the law,” Kanwat added.
The SP also issued a warning against abuse of legal provisions. “Filing false complaints, making false allegations, providing misleading information or abusing the legal process is a serious offence. If any such violation is found, strict action will be taken against the people involved as per the law,” he said.
The case stems from an incident on the night of May 30, when Beed rural police had registered a case, under attempt to murder and other charges, against Dhananjay Deshmukh for allegedly pointing his bodyguard’s service revolver at his distant relative Samadhan Khindkar during a dispute at a roadside eatery.
Deshmukh had in turn filed a cross-complaint accusing Khindkar of criminal intimidation and unlawful assembly.
Deshmukh could not be reached for comment.
