SP youth wing functionary killed as car rams tree

Prayagraj: A 38-year-old functionary of the Samajwadi Party’s Lohiya Vahini was killed and three others were injured after their allegedly overspeeding car rammed into a tree in the Civil Lines area late Wednesday.

SHO (Civil Lines) Ramashraya Yadav told TOI that the accident occurred when a group of four persons, including SP functionary Ratnesh Yadav, was returning home after having dinner at an eatery. He said the car was being driven at a high speed and the driver lost control before crashing into a tree.

The SHO added that the impact of the collision was so severe that the front portion of the car was completely mangled, resulting in the death of the SP functionary. Three others sustained minor injuries and were administered first aid in a hospital.
