AAP MP’s paper leak meet halted
Prayagraj: Panic gripped Circuit house and adjoining areas under the Civil Lines police station on Monday after a joint team of district administration and police allegedly prevented AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh from holding a discussion with students over the paper leak issue.
Singh had been invited by leaders of the Pratiyogi Chatra Sangharsh Samiti in Prayagraj to participate in a debate on the paper leak issue. During the session, a joint team of district administration and police officials reached the venue and asked participants to vacate the premises, alleging that the AAP leader was holding the event without the required permission.
When the leaders were asked to vacate the premises, they refused. Consequently, the power supply to the Circuit House hall was cut off for some time, following which all the student leaders departed from the venue. District AAP leaders claimed that it was a students’ programme and the AAP MP was invited as a guest.
Meanwhile, Sanjay Singh took the police and district officials to task and asserted that he was not violating law and order and officials had no right to enter the meeting venue. He said that he would report the matter to previligae committee as officials were making efforts to infringe on MP’s rights. “ Had the event been organised at a public place they could have initiated the action.” said the MP.
