US-Israel-Iran War News Highlights: Drone incident sparks fire near Dubai International Airport; Qatar, Saudi condemn Iranian attacks

US-Israel-Iran War News Live Updates: The conflict involving Iran, Israel and the United States has rapidly escalated into one of the most dangerous crises in the Middle East in years. The war began on February 28 when US and Israeli forces launched coordinated airstrikes across Iran, killing the country’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei and triggering a wider regional confrontation.

Since then, Iran has responded with waves of missile and drone attacks targeting Israeli positions and shipping routes in the Strait of Hormuz — a crucial global energy corridor through which roughly a fifth of the world’s oil supply passes.

The disruption has shaken global markets, pushing oil prices sharply higher and prompting several major economies to release supplies from their strategic reserves.

Iranian officials have warned the conflict could turn into a prolonged war of attrition capable of severely damaging the global economy. Tehran says it still maintains control over the Strait of Hormuz and has threatened to target economic infrastructure linked to the United States and Israel. Iranian forces have also targeted commercial vessels in the Gulf, raising fears of a wider maritime crisis.

Early Friday, US President Donald Trump issued a fresh warning to Iran on social media, writing: “Watch what happens to these deranged scumbags today.” He also described the damage inflicted on Iran and its leadership as a “great honor”.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy claimed its ballistic missiles struck the USS Abraham Lincoln, causing heavy damage and forcing the US carrier to retreat from Gulf waters. Washington rejected the claim, saying the carrier remains fully operational and continues to support the military campaign known as Operation Epic Fury.

The conflict has also spread beyond the immediate battlefield. A powerful explosion shook buildings in Dubai, with a large cloud of smoke seen rising over a central area of the Middle East financial hub.The blast was followed by sirens from the direction of Sheikh Zayed Road.

At the same time, Saudi Arabia said its air defences intercepted dozens of drones entering its airspace as Iran expanded attacks on oil-rich Gulf countries in response to the US-Israeli strikes.

With fighting now entering its second week, concerns are growing that the conflict could widen further, threatening global trade, energy supplies and regional stability.

  • Five US refuelling tankers were struck and destroyed on ground at Saudi Arabia's Prince Salman Air Base, The Wall Street Journal reported.
  • US President Donald Trump announced that the US military bombed the key Iranian island of Kharag, saying it has been "totally obliterated."
  • In response, Iran warned that oil and energy infrastructure belonging to firms that cooperated with the United States would "immediately be destroyed and turned into a pile of ashes" if Iran's energy facilities were attacked.
  • The US has announced a $10 million award for information on Iran's new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khameini and other senior officials.
  • All six crew members of the KC-135 refuelling aircraft that crashed in Iraq were killed in the mishap, the US CENTCOM confirmed.

Exiled last Crown Prince of Iran's message for his citizens
"Dear Fellow Countrymen,

Our nation is wealthy, talented, and proud; yet our people have been impoverished by the corruption, incompetence, and adventurism of the Islamic Republic.

This state of affairs must end.

Today, I present to you five economic objectives of the Transition System; clear and honest commitments based on the Iran Prosperity Project plan, aimed at restoring Iran’s wealth to its people. This plan will be implemented by drawing on the talent and expertise of Iranians.

First, the Transition System will free our country’s economy from the grip of military and paramilitary forces, and economic criminals, returning control to citizens and entrepreneurs.

Second, the Transition System will reclaim Iran’s seized and stolen wealth and return it to Iranian citizens.

Third, the nation’s wealth will be spent on Iranians, not on foreign terrorists and paramilitaries. The Transition System is committed to rebuilding and modernising infrastructure, particularly the water, electricity, and fuel supply networks across the country.

Fourth, the Transition System will dismantle the system of cronyism, institutionalised corruption, and monopolies, directing the national wealth towards healthcare, education, and eradicating poverty.

And finally, Iran’s greatest asset is not oil and gas, but you. The Transition System will invest in Iran’s human capital. Iran will reconnect with the global economy, and economic stability, growth, and prosperity will return to our homeland.

These are not empty promises, but commitments of the Transition System for implementation. My commitment to you is that I will stand with you to ensure this plan is carried out.

Long live Iran,
Reza Pahlavi"

Israel Iran war: Israel approves $827 million in emergency military funding as Iran war rages
Israel has approved an $827 million emergency budget for military procurement as the war with Iran entered its third week, according to Israeli media reports.

The 2.6 billion shekel package was cleared by cabinet ministers during a telephone meeting over the weekend, the daily Haaretz reported. The funds will be used for "security purchases" and to meet "urgent needs", though no further details were disclosed.

A finance ministry document circulated among ministers, and cited by several outlets including Channel 12, said the extra funding was required "given the intensity of the fighting".

"An urgent and immediate need has arisen to provide an operational response, including the acquisition of munitions, the procurement of advanced weapons systems and the replenishment of critical combat stocks," the document stated.

It added that the move constituted "an exceptional emergency decision intended solely to address needs arising from the conduct of the fighting".

According to the reports, the funds will come from the $222 billion state budget approved by the government on March 12 and expected to be adopted by the Knesset by March 31.

Gulf countries report fresh attacks after Iran's warning to major UAE ports to evacuate
Gulf countries reported fresh attacks on Sunday morning, a day after Iran warned the United Arab Emirates to evacuate three major ports — marking the first time Tehran has threatened a neighbouring country’s non-US assets.

Iran alleged that the US had used “ports, docks and hideouts” in the UAE to launch strikes on Kharg Island, which houses the principal terminal for Iran’s oil exports. Tehran did not present evidence for the claim, even as the conflict showed no signs of easing.

US President Donald Trump said he hoped allied nations would deploy warships to help secure the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.

Iran war news: At least four killed in overnight strikes in Lebanon
Overnight Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon killed at least four people, Lebanese state media and officials said, as Israel said it was continuing its campaign against Iran-backed Hezbollah, AFP reported.

Israel is fighting a second front in southern Lebanon against Hezbollah while also carrying out an air campaign against Iran alongside the United States, more than two weeks after the conflict escalated.

Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency reported that Israel struck “an apartment in a residential building” in a northern district of the coastal city of Sidon, killing one person and sparking a fire.

An AFP journalist at the scene saw damage to the third floor of the building as the Lebanese army cordoned off the area and rescue teams worked to put out the blaze. Residents in nearby buildings rushed into the streets, some carrying their belongings.

Further southeast of Sidon, in the village of Al-Qatrani, three people were killed in another Israeli strike overnight, according to Lebanon’s health ministry.

The Israeli military said it had targeted infrastructure used by Hezbollah across Lebanon and struck “several Hezbollah launch sites” in Al-Qatrani, where it said the group had been preparing to fire missiles.

Israel Iran war: Netanyahu's office debunks assassination rumours after 'AI video' sparks conspiracy
The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he is “fine” after a wave of social media posts falsely claimed he had been killed. The clarification came after a correspondent from Anadolu Agency contacted Netanyahu’s office about widespread online rumours suggesting the Israeli leader had been assassinated. In response, his office dismissed the claims, saying, “These are fake news, the Prime Minister is fine.”

The rumours gained traction after Netanyahu posted a video of a press conference on Friday about the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran. Some social media users alleged the footage was AI-generated, claiming to have spotted six fingers on his right hand.

Users pointed to a moment around the 0:35 mark in the video where Netanyahu raises his hands, arguing that extra flesh near his little finger was a “classic AI finger glitch”.

However, X’s AI chatbot Grok fact-checked the claim and said Netanyahu does not have six fingers. It said the visual anomaly was likely caused by shadows, hand angles or the natural shape of the palm, such as the hypothenar eminence.

The chatbot added that official footage from Israel’s Government Press Office shows Netanyahu with the normal five fingers on each hand.

Israel Iran war: Iran arrests 20 over suspected links to Israel, says report
Iranian authorities have arrested at least 20 people in the country’s northwest on suspicion of cooperating with Israel, AFP reported on Sunday, citing local media, more than two weeks into the Middle East war.

The arrests were made during raids on networks allegedly linked to Israel in West Azerbaijan province, the Fars news agency said, quoting provincial prosecutor Hossein Majidi.

“Twenty people were arrested and detained” after they were found to be “sending details of military, law enforcement and security locations to the Zionist enemy,” the report added.

Authorities have also carried out wider crackdowns across Iran, with local media reporting that hundreds of people have been arrested in recent days over suspected links with Israel and the United States.

Iran war news: After attacks on Iran's oil facilities, toxic black rain raises health fears
Clouds of toxic smoke released into the atmosphere by US-Israeli airstrikes on Iranian oil facilities have returned to the ground in the form of “black rain”, prompting international health experts to warn of potential risks to public health.

Residents in Tehran reported burning eyes and breathing difficulties last week after the dark, oily rainfall fell near the capital following strikes on several fuel oil depots and a refinery.

Over the past two weeks of conflict, thick plumes of smoke have also been seen across parts of the region as Iran responded to US-Israeli strikes by launching drones and missiles at oil and gas facilities in neighbouring Persian Gulf countries.

Experts told AP that the rainfall can quickly wash hazardous chemicals out of the atmosphere, but people exposed to black rain should still take precautions to avoid possible short- and long-term health effects.

What is black rain

Black rain occurs when soot, ash and toxic chemicals mix with water droplets in the atmosphere and fall to the ground during rainfall. The phenomenon is often seen after oil refineries or oil fields catch fire, and can also result from wildfires, volcanic eruptions and industrial pollution.

In Iran’s case, experts say microscopic soot formed when hydrocarbons in burning fuel oil did not combust completely. The burning oil also produces compounds known as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), along with toxic gases such as sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides that can lead to acid rain, according to Peter Adams, a civil and environmental engineering professor at Carnegie Mellon University.

“Several networks of mercenaries associated with the hands of the Zionist regime who were cooperating, including sending details of military, law enforcement and security locations to the Zionist enemy, were hit, and 20 individuals were arrested and detained by issuing a judicial order,” the prosecutor’s statement said.

Meanwhile, Reuters reported last week that Israel has launched a new phase of its assault on Iran, targeting security checkpoints based on tip-offs from informants on the ground.

The United Arab Emirates reported a new missile attack on Sunday morning, a day after Iran called for the evacuation of three major UAE ports, marking the first time Tehran has threatened a neighbouring country’s non-US assets.

Iran accused the United States of using “ports, docks and hideouts” in the UAE to launch strikes on Kharg Island, which hosts the main terminal for Iran’s oil exports, though it provided no evidence. The accusations come as the war shows no signs of easing.

US President Donald Trump said he hoped allied nations would deploy warships to help secure the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

Meanwhile, Israeli strikes have worsened the humanitarian crisis in Lebanon, where about 800 people have been killed and more than 850,000 displaced.

Iran accuses US, Israel of ‘false-flag’ drone attacks to frame Tehran
A spokesman for Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters has accused the United States and Israel of carrying out a “false-flag” campaign using a modified version of Iran’s Shahed-136, referred to as “Lucas,” to blame Iran for attacks across the region.

According to Press TV, the official claimed the drones were being used to target civilian infrastructure in order to deliberately frame the Islamic Republic and damage its relations with neighbouring countries.

In a statement, the spokesman said that after facing setbacks on the battlefield and failing to rally political alliances against Tehran, the “enemy” had turned to deceptive tactics to “create doubt and accuse the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

He pointed to what he described as “suspicious attacks” in neighbouring countries including Turkey, Kuwait and Iraq, claiming Western media had wrongly blamed Iranian forces.

The spokesman insisted that Iran’s military operations are strictly controlled and aimed only at specific targets. “As the Islamic Republic of Iran has repeatedly announced, it only targets the objectives, centres and interests of the United States and the Zionist regime,” he said, adding that Tehran takes responsibility for strikes it officially carries out.

The statement also called for greater regional cooperation, urging countries to maintain unity and coordination to counter what it described as attempts to destabilise the region.

Israel Iran war: Saudi defense ministry intercepts 10 drones in Riyadh and eastern region
Saudi Ministry of Defence has announced the interception and destruction of 10 drones targeting the Riyadh and eastern regions, marking a significant escalation in aerial activity.

This latest statement followed an earlier announcement made an hour prior, in which the ministry confirmed it had successfully destroyed two other drones in the east of the country.

Preceding these incidents, the ministry reported that its forces had already destroyed seven drones across the same regions. These successful operations highlight the continued efforts of Saudi air defences to neutralise aerial threats over the kingdom's central and eastern territories.

Further north, the Ministry of defence confirmed on Saturday that its air defence forces successfully neutralised another threat. In a formal statement, officials confirmed the "interception and destruction of a drone" after it was detected entering the airspace over the "Al-Jawf region in the north of the country".

This sequence of events follows a massive wave of hostilities earlier in the week. Saudi Arabia reported that its systems intercepted nearly 50 drones within a span of just a few hours early Friday.

US Iran war: US deploys B-52 as Operation Epic Fury continues
The United States Central Command said a B-52 Stratofortress took off for a night mission as part of Operation Epic Fury, aimed at “eliminating threats” posed by the Iranian regime and preventing it from rebuilding its military capabilities.

CENTCOM said US strikes remain “unpredictable, dynamic and decisive” as the conflict in West Asia continues to escalate. The widening confrontation has seen the United States, Israel and Iran target each other’s energy infrastructure, raising fears of disruptions to global oil and gas supplies.

Meanwhile, Keir Starmer is considering deploying thousands of interceptor drones to the Middle East, according to a report by The Telegraph. British defence officials are evaluating whether advanced equipment originally meant for Eastern Europe could be redirected to the region.

Military experts are examining if the Octopus interceptor anti-drone system, developed in the UK to help Ukraine counter Russian attacks, could be repurposed to defend against Iranian Shahed drone threats.

The move comes after Donald Trump urged the United Kingdom and other allies to deploy naval forces to help secure the Strait of Hormuz.

At the same time, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said it carried out the 51st wave of Operation True Promise 4, launching a barrage of missiles at US military facilities across the region.

According to Iran’s state broadcaster Press TV, the strikes used a mix of liquid-fuel and solid-fuel missiles and targeted US forces at Al Kharj Air Base in Saudi Arabia.

Shahed drones have been linked to several attacks across the Middle East, although the exact manufacturer of some drones used in these strikes has not always been confirmed.

Earlier this week, Zelenskyy also made similar claims in a post on the social media platform X stating that "Russia has started supporting the Iranian regime with drones. It will definitely help with missiles, and it is also helping them with air defense."

US Iran war: identifies 6 soldiers killed in Iraq plane crash
The Pentagon identified six US service members killed in the crash of a KC-135 Stratotanker in western Iraq earlier this week. Officials said the crash was not caused by hostile fire.

The aircraft went down on Thursday during an operation linked to the conflict with Iran, bringing the total number of US troops killed in the campaign to at least 13. Another aircraft involved in the mission landed safely.

Those killed were identified as John Klinner, 33, of Alabama; Ariana Savino, 31, of Washington; Ashley Pruitt, 34, of Kentucky; Seth Koval, 38, of Indiana; Curtis Angst, 30, of Ohio; and Tyler Simmons, 28, also of Ohio.

The first three served in the United States Air Force, while the remaining three were members of the United States Air National Guard.

The crash remains under investigation. Earlier, United States Central Command said the aircraft’s loss was “not due to hostile fire or friendly fire.”
However, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq claimed it had shot down the KC-135 and targeted another aircraft that managed to escape.

Since the start of the Middle East conflict, the group has claimed daily attacks on US interests in Iraq and across the region.

The KC-135 crash marks at least the fourth US military aircraft lost during the war, following the loss of three F-15 Eagle aircraft that were shot down by friendly fire over Kuwait.

KC-135 refueling aircraft, which have been in service for more than six decades, typically operate with a crew of three — a pilot, co-pilot and boom operator responsible for refuelling other aircraft mid-air, according to the US Air Force.

US Iran war: IRGC warns attacks on US banks in Gulf region will expand if more Iranian banks are targeted
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) warned that attacks on American bank branches operating in the Gulf region could expand if further strikes by the US and Israel target Iranian banking infrastructure, according to Press TV.

Naeini said Iranian attacks on American bank branches in neighbouring countries were carried out in response to recent US-Israeli strikes on Iranian bank properties earlier this week and briefly disrupted banking operations in the country.

Speaking to Sepah News, as cited by Press TV, Naeini warned that all US bank branches operating in the region will become legitimate targets for Iran if "the enemy repeats its mistake" and carries out similar attacks on Iranian banks.

His remarks come as Iran repeatedly warns of 'responding in kind' to attacks on civilian infrastructure by the US or Israel. Iranian authorities have indicated that reprisals could target US assets across the region, particularly in Arab countries of the Persian Gulf, where American companies have expanded operations in recent years.

Iranian foreign minister said that the Strait of Hormuz remains open to all countries except its "enemies"- United States and Israel- following US airstrikes on its Kharg Island oil hub.“As a matter of fact, the Strait of Hormuz is open,” FM Abbas Araghchi said.

“It is only closed to the tankers and ships belong[ing] to our enemies, to those who are attacking us and their allies.Others are free to pass,” he told MS NOW, as cited by New York Post.

“And I can say that the Strait is not closed, but it is only closed to American, Israeli, you know, ships and tankers, and not to others.”Abbas Araghchi added that many ships “prefer” not to undertake the journey due to “security concerns,” but insisted, “this has nothing to do with us.”

War between Iran, Israel, and the United States erupted after US-Israeli air strikes on February 28 killed Iranian supreme leader Ali Khamenei. Iran retaliated with missile and drone attacks, particularly around the strategic Strait of Hormuz, disrupting shipping and sending global oil prices soaring.

Tehran has warned the war could become a prolonged conflict capable of damaging the world economy, while US President Donald Trump insists Washington must “finish the job,” claiming most Iranian targets have already been hit.

The fighting has spread regionally, with Hezbollah launching attacks on Israel from Lebanon, prompting Israeli retaliation. The war has already caused heavy casualties, mass displacement, and major disruption to energy markets and aviation.

As tensions rise and diplomatic efforts stall at the United Nations Security Council, fears are mounting that the conflict could widen further and trigger a major global economic shock.

Tehran's retaliatory operations have also targeted American military bases in Gulf countries. Last week, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian "apologised' for the attacks and stated that Tehran would strike only if attacked first.

Trump has repeatedly claimed that the Iranian air force and navy have both been completely destroyed, leaving the country defenceless.
