Gangnam B-Side, Revolver, Queen Woo and more: Ji Chang Wook's upcoming K-dramas and movies

Ji Chang-wook isn't just busy; he's booked solid and then some! Fresh off the heels of two smash-hit dramas in 2023 - ‘The Worst of Evil’ and ‘Welcome to Samdal-ri' - Ji Chang-wook shows no signs of slowing down. In his upcoming roles, he'll tackle everything from a notorious gangster to a complex antagonist (a first for him!), a member of royalty, an ordinary man seeking revenge, and beyond. Curious about Ji Chang-wook's jam-packed schedule? Let's take a closer look at the lineup of exciting projects this unstoppable star has signed up for, one by one.

2/6

Gangnam B-Side

'Gangnam B-Side' (formerly known as ‘Bulk’), is an upcoming drama featuring Ji Chang Wook, Ha Yun Kyung, and Jo Woo Jin. Set in the heart of Gangnam, this crime series follows an elite detective facing demotion, a determined prosecutor, and a mysterious broker as they unite to combat the shadows lurking in the city's nightlife. Ji Chang Wook steps into the shoes of mysterious Yoon Gil Ho, the mastermind behind Gangnam's underbelly. Survival in Gangnam demands dwelling in its darkest corners, and Yoon Gil Ho knows this all too well. Ji Chang Wook is set to undergo a significant transformation to portray this character flawlessly. The premiere of ‘Gangnam B-Side' is scheduled for the latter half of 2024.

3/6

Queen Woo

‘Queen Woo’ is a historical action chase drama. As the sudden demise of the King throws the kingdom into chaos, Queen Woo finds herself targeted by five tribes vying for power and princes eyeing the throne. With the clock ticking, she must find a new ruler within 24 hours. Jeon Jong Seo portrays the formidable Queen Woo Hee, a figure of beauty, intelligence, and resilience, undeterred by threats. Ji Chang Wook takes on the role of her husband, King Gogukcheon of Goguryeo, Go Nam Moo. Speculations suggest that it will be released in 2024.

4/6

Revolver

Filming has already begun for this upcoming movie. Centered around the narrative of Ha Soo Young, a former police officer wrongly imprisoned for a crime, the film delves into her relentless hunt for truth upon her release. Leading the cast is Jeon Do Yeon in the role of Ha Soo Young, while Ji Chang Wook will portray Andy, a character described as adding tension to Ha Soo Young's search for justice. Producers hint at a departure from Ji Chang Wook's usual gentle persona, as Andy reveals a different side of the actor's talent. It is expected to premiere later this year.

5/6

Sculpture City

‘Sculpture City’ is a drama fueled by bloody revenge. When an ordinary man's life is abruptly twisted by manipulation, he descends into hell, only to resurface with a thirst for retribution. With a reported production cost of 35 billion won (approximately $26.4 million), expectations are high for this intense narrative. Ji Chang Wook is rumored to take on the role of the manipulated protagonist seeking justice, while D.O. is said to portray a designer crafting real-life hells for others. ‘Sculpture City’ is set to potentially hit screens in 2024.

Twelve

Ji Chang Wook enters negotiations for a role in the upcoming superhero series ‘Twelve’, starring alongside the renowned Ma Dong Seok, also known as Don Lee. Directed by Ko Sung Mok, the series charts the journey of a team of extraordinary heroes tasked with protecting Korea from evil spirits. Should negotiations bear fruit, Ji Chang Wook will mark his debut in the superhero genre. In the series, Ma Dong Seok assumes the role of Taesan, the leader of the heroic team, while Ji Chang Wook is poised to join him in defending Korea against supernatural threats. Apart from this, no additional information regarding the cast or storyline of ‘Twelve’ has been disclosed.
