West Bengal Police’s Special Task Force (STF) recovered a large cache of firearms and ammunition allegedly hidden in a pond linked to Trinamool Congress regional president Robin Das in Sandeshkhali, North 24 Parganas district. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, STF personnel conducted raids in Sandeshkhali and nearby areas, recovering weapons and cartridges suspected to have been stockpiled to create unrest. Officials said Robin Das and his brother Gopal Das fled before the operation and are currently being traced. The BJP targeted the TMC following the recovery, alleging the weapons could have been used against political opponents. Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari praised the STF operation, calling it a major breakthrough against illegal arms networks and reaffirming his government’s commitment to eliminating political violence and restoring law and order.
