Rep. Ayanna Pressley delivered an emotional statement during the House Judiciary Subcommittee hearing titled “Amnesty and Chaos: Abuse of U.S. Immigration Policy,” alleging that migrants, including children, are being unlawfully detained at the Dilley Immigration Processing Center in Texas. Citing ICE data, Pressley said approximately 4,000 minors, including a 9-year-old girl, have been held at the facility, calling the situation heartbreaking and shameful. The hearing also featured testimony from immigration policy experts, with Mark Krikorian proposing several reforms, including repealing Temporary Protected Status (TPS), limiting parole admissions, and restricting work permits for noncitizens who do not qualify under existing immigration laws.
