The popular cookery show hosted by the celebrity Indian chef Sanjeev Kapoor- Khana Khazaana dominated Indian television in the 90s. Since the inception of the show in the year 1993, the show has gained huge popularity in India. Celebrity chef Sanjeev shot for Khana Khazana for free

In an interview, he made headlines after he revealed that he shot the shoe for free. Sanjeev shared that he didn't have a penny when he started with Khana Khazana. He said, "I was shooting for free initially. I became popular but I had no money for my family. And then I quit my job and also went to the house with it. Soon the show helped me get back on track. I got the courage to quit my job and came with my brother and Alyona, they supported me in my decision."

The controversy with Sanjeev Kapoor

Filmmaker Hansal Mehta has revealed that he had to fight it out to get chef Sanjeev Kapoor as the host for the long-running iconic cookery show, Khana Khazana. He revealed that the channel was not in favour of him. Hansal Mehta had directed the cookery show, which began in 1993. During an interview, he said, “Zee TV rejected him (Kapoor). They wanted a woman. They thought a woman would be more credible, and relatable and they were in that whole housewife scenario, that you know, ‘We make shows for families, so a nice housewife cooking will (look better).’ I said that’s a Tarla Dalal phenomenon, we need to go beyond. You need to have a chef telling you… That credibility is needed,” he said in the interview.
