From revealing shocking truth about reality shows to not getting paid for singing Bollywood songs, controversy with Virat Kohli and more: Rahul Vaidya makes candid revelations

Rahul Vaidya, who is currently winning hearts on reality show Laughter Chefs made many candid revelations in a recent interview with Instant Bollywood. The singer addressed his controversy with Virat Kohli, opened up about his early life struggles and much more. Here’s a look at some shocking revelations made by him:-

2/8

On how Bollywood doesn’t pay singers

“Bollywood doesn’t give money for singing songs. It’s a very weird thing, but I’ll give you an idea. The director and people in power in Bollywood think that singers can earn from shows and endorsements. However, we don’t get any money. Many a times, they don’t even talk about money. The only source of income for singers is live shows.”

Early life struggles

“My dad earned ₹11,000. However, the aim was never to earn money — it was only to become a great singer. Money and fame will chase you if you do well in life. My mom used to give me ₹15 per day, and I used to manage all my expenses with that.”

On how reality shows changed over time

“Reality shows ab scripted TV shows bann gaye hai. Har reality show ka ek pattern hai… ek love angle hoga, kisi ki mummy kisi ke ghar pe kaam karti hogi, kisi ke papa auto chalate hoge.” (Reality shows have now turned into scripted TV shows. Every reality show has a pattern… there will be a love angle, someone’s mother will be shown working at someone’s house, someone’s father will be an auto-rickshaw driver.)

“Reality shows are scripted”

“Every reality show follows a set pattern… there will be a love angle, someone’s mother will be shown working at someone’s house, someone’s father will be an auto-rickshaw driver. Agar yeh nahi bhi hota hai toh aapko bola jaata hai ki aise bolo. Pehle aisa nahi hota tha. Pehle agar mujhe pata hota ki agar ‘main gareeb hoon’ aisa bolne se vote milenge, toh hum toh fir bata dete (apni sad story). But back then, it was real. I can’t say that about today’s singing reality shows. Even if that’s not true, you’re told to say it that way. It wasn’t like this before. Earlier, if I had known that saying ‘I’m poor’ would get me votes, then I too would have shared my sob story. But back then, it was real. I can’t say the same about today’s singing reality shows.”

“Even the songs aren’t original in singing reality show”

“Voice is recorded and then the songs are tuned. How can someone tune songs of a reality show? During our time, we used to get negative reviews as well. However, now people don’t give harsh reviews. People are playing around with what the makers want.”

7/8

On doing Bigg Boss

“Bigg Boss is a very real show, and the reason why I went was because it was a very cold time for me professionally. I used to get offers for the show since the first season. However, it was during COVID when I decided to go to the Bigg Boss house.”

8/8

Controversy with Virat Kohli

“I’m fond of Virat Kohli, and I didn’t intend to start a controversy with him. There was a time when I couldn’t see his profile on Instagram, and one fine day, he accidentally liked an influencer’s photo and called it an ‘Instagram glitch.’ Because of that, I made a funny video claiming that due to an Instagram glitch, my account got blocked. Weeks later, I could see his profile and realised that maybe he never blocked me and it was all a misunderstanding.”
