From being accused of unprofessional behaviour to getting replaced overnight: All that went down with Yeh Rishta’s Shehzada Dhami and Pratiksha Honmukhe

Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai producer Rajan Shahi recently announced that he had sacked two actors-Shehzada Dhami and Pratiksha Honmukhe from the show. According to the reports, Shehzada and Pratiksha, who played the roles of Armaan and Rohit respectively, were terminated from the show on grounds of misbehaviour. While Shehzada was replaced by Rohit Purohit, Pratiksha was replaced by Garvita Sadhwani. Here’s a look at all that went down and how the fellow stars reacted.

The official statement by the production

The team of the production house issued a statement and addressed the situation. The statement read, “Recent events have prompted Directors Kut Production to take a firm stance against unprofessional behaviour displayed by two actors from the TV show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai – Shehzada Dhami, portraying the character Armaan, and Pratiksha Honmukhe, in the role of Roohi.”

What went down

The sources revealed that Shehzada disregarded work ethics from day one. It even mentioned how he constantly threw tantrums and mistreated the crew. Further, it confirmed how the team tried to address the issue, but his behaviour continued, disrupting the harmony on sets. Pratiksha on the other hand, was terminated because of her behaviour and because she was not being able to live up to her character’s expectations. The newcomer was being groomed by the production house.

Missed cues and delays because of Shehzaada and Pratiksha?

As per a report in Times Now, inside sources claimed that Shehzada and Pratiksha used to spend a lot of time together on the sets of the show. They would allegedly be in each other’s makeup room most of the time. Due to this the show used to get delayed, and there were missed cues which led to distractions in their performances, confirmed the sources.

Rishabh Jaiswal’s reaction

Rishabh, who plays the role of Krish in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai reacted to the situation as well. In a recent interview, he stated, "I do not know what exactly went wrong, but yes, there was friction between the production house and Shehzada since day one, and when I say day one, I mean since the day we were shooting in Mahabaleshwar for the opening episodes of the show. So yes, it was a build-up of everything here and there, and it finally led to whatever happened today. This was very obvious."

Co-star Shivam Khajuria’s reaction

Shivam, who plays the role of Rohit in the show, expressed his take on the situation as well. He said, "I have worked with Pratiksha for almost a month and Shehzada, too. I felt Pratiksha was not taking her job seriously. She had a great opportunity but she spoiled it. She was quite influenced by Shehzada. I had told her many times to work on her craft but I feel she lost focus after she became great friends with Shehzada. She or Shehzada were never impolite towards me. But, I think the two got enough warnings from the production house and they should have paid heed to them." Rohit further added, "Shehzada's behaviour towards the crew was rather unprofessional. I was told how when they went for the shoot in Mahabaleshwar, he behaved rudely. He continued his behaviour later, too. The crew, lightmen, director, and cameramen are all important people and one has to respect them."

Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai actress Shruti Ulfat reacts to it

In an exclusive conversation with ETimes TV, Yeh Rishta actress Shruti shared her reaction to the sudden decision. She said, "It's quite a jolt for everyone, we hear that the production has been facing issues and everyone is aware of it. The production house has given its best to try and work things around but it seems like it did not work out and hence Rajan Shahi took this firm decision," she said. Further commenting on the same, she added that producer Rajan Shahi announced the decision today (March 18), "As actors we give long hours to our work and hence needs to be respected. Rajan came on sets today and this was announced. I guess it's a lesson for everyone. I know eventually it's a creative call and not much you can say or do about it."
