Exclusive - Donal Bisht on if she has friends from industry: Nobody over here is your friend, everyone is an acquaintance

Donal Bisht is currently eyeing the South film industry and is sharing the screen space with 'Pushpa' fame Sunil Varma. Donal will also be seen in a web series. The Bigg Boss 15 contestant recently attended her best friend, Afsana Khan's wedding and met a few contestants over there. In this exclusive interview with ETimes TV, Donal Bisht spoke about her professional journey, friends and more: (All Photos - Instagram)

On bagging her South film

I'd never thought about doing a film down South. I'd never even watched a South film until Baahubali was released. I got calls, I read the script and I liked it. I am fortunate that I got the opportunity to work with good people. I am working with Sunil ji (Varma) who was recently seen in Pushpa, and back then during the shoot, he had told me about this film but I did not know how big the film was. I am so happy that I am associated with great people from the South. I am very excited and looking forward to it as films have become pan-India now, the regional bifurcation has blurred. The South is more loved.

On staying in touch with BB 15 contestants outside the show

If I couldn't mingle with them inside the house then how would I get along with them outside the house. I was my real self inside the house. I did not plan on adding anything extra or behave in a particular way or I'll change outside the house, nothing of those sorts. I always welcome people with an open heart and arms but I bonded with Afsana Khan and she is my go-to person. I've stayed at her house when I've been in Chandigarh and she's stayed at my home when in Mumbai. So, that's how our relationship is.

On not clicking pictures with Umar Riaz at the wedding

We met, we exchanged greetings and a moment couldn't be created where we could take a picture. He was busy with his friends and I was with Afsana. There wasn't any thought process about it, everything was just organic.

On doing Khatron Ke Khiladi

There are so many speculations and I don't know where these rumours come from. Maybe the makers of Khatron Ke Khiladi must be thinking about it but I don't know as I haven't given any confirmation yet but let's see. I am a little scared when it comes to Khatron Ke Khiladi. I am a very adventurous girl and I am always up for something new but let's see, work projects are also there.

On her views about TV as a medium

I was busy with my work so I happened to stay away from daily soaps but it isn't that I don't intend on doing anything on TV. I started with TV, I love it and I learnt a lot from TV. I've done four back-to-back shows and it teaches you a lot. Right now, I am a bit occupied with my South film, I will also be doing a web series. So, it's not that I don't want to do TV, it's just that I am occupied with other stuff.

About her journalism career, before acting

I always wanted to be a journalist but I think before that when I was a kid, I used to dance in front of the mirror and mimic heroines. Even when I was a journalist, people around me used to say that 'you are very expressive, why don't you try in films.' When in college, I was always asked to be a part of short films and eventually this thing (acting) developed but I used to not tell it to anyone. I used to get scared that how can I say 'mujhe heroine ban na hai' because it was out of my league, nor did I have anyone from my family in that field. When everybody started saying that, I developed confidence and I came here (Mumbai) and gave a lot of auditions, and I got selected and finally, I am here. This is the dream city, so just trying to make my dreams come true.

8/11

Did the journalism background help you with acting?

It really did and I think nothing goes in vain. It made me very strong and I knew that 'mujhe koi touch nahin kar sakta.' We know how to understand and tackle situations. Like that you become a strong human. Facing the camera also becomes easier. I have given many auditions, it isn't that I got selected in the first round itself. My first audition helped me get many other auditions, it became a web for me, and finally I came here.

9/11

On facing rejections

Rejections are very important in life to teach you more, make you better in your craft. If you get selected at every audition then we'll think 'Oh, I'm perfect' but nobody's perfect. To make things perfect, one has to face the taste of rejection.

10/11

On staying motivated

It becomes very difficult when you lose hope but it actually didn't happen with me because vo jo 'keeda rehta hai na andar' that I have to do this. I feel bad sometimes thinking about how and when this will happen but eventually the force inside me is stronger that hope doesn't get over. I am my own motivator.

11/11

Closest friends from the industry

It's very difficult to say. There are a couple of friends who have been with me ever since I came to Mumbai for the past 6 years. Industry is such that nobody over here is your friend or dear friend, everyone is an acquaintance. Friends are the ones from school and college who are still there in your life and I have such friends. We are 4-5 friends from the fifth grade and we are still together.
