This pleasant incident happened with Paul Wilkinson, 65, who boarded his Jet2 flight from Portugal to Northern Ireland to meet his family. The catch was that he was the only passenger on his Jet2 flight. Initially, he was a bit confused to see that there was no line at the airport gate, and when he inquired if the flight had been delayed or cancelled, he was informed that he was the only passenger on the flight and was referred to as a ‘VIP guest’ by the stewards.
At first, Wilkinson thought it was some kind of a prank, only to realise that he had the entire plane to himself, and later on, described the experience as ‘surreal’, and seemed as if it was his own private jet.
He shared that the flight attendants addressed him as ‘King Paul,’ and that he got an exclusive safety demonstration, an opportunity to select his own seat, and also speak with the captain before takeoff. He also added that he had a friendly conversation with the captain and was able to take a walk around the plane.
Wilkinson added he was the lone passenger to exit the aircraft, and that the passport checking agents were shocked to see him, before cheerfully processing his paperwork.
Now, the most exciting part, the entire journey cost him just $162 (approximately ₹13,000)! Wilkinson added that he was “spoiled” by the flight attendants' service, and joked that next time on his flight, he will be asking how many people are on the plane.
The airline also commented on the unique situation, and added that they were actually delighted to host Paul Wilkinson, and offer him their award-winning customer service in true VIP style.
