Referring to this, Devyani Khobragade, India's Ambassador to Cambodia stated that they are trying to start direct air linkages between India and Cambodia, which would provide the necessary boost to tourism. She added that when there are direct flights, people would love to come and see Angkor Wat and the land of Buddha.
She added that what Angkor Wat is to Cambodia is exactly what the Taj Mahal is to India. With this development, travellers from both sides will get to explore them much more easily.
Reports have it that Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankar recently visited Cambodia to attend the ASEAN-India Commemorative Summit and the 17th East Asia Summit. This year is also the 70th anniversary of India and Cambodia’s bi-lateral relations, and it was during this time that officials from both the sides signed four MoUs (Memorandum of Understanding).
Reportedly, an MOU related to the digital conservation of cultural heritage has also been signed, which will further help in mapping temples of Indian origin.
Additionally, another agreement was signed regarding the re-introduction of tigers in Cambodia between the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, India and the Ministry of Environment, Cambodia for Cooperation in Biodiversity Conservation and Sustainable Wildlife Management.
