Lakkundi is a village in Karnataka, India, that is now being considered for inclusion in the Hampi Tourism Circuit. The village is home to many impressive temples, some of which date back to 1000 CE. The aim is to promote the village as a major tourist destination, with attractions including both Hindu and Jain temples. Read less

The Virupaksha Temple in Lakkundi, dating back to 1010 CE, is still an active temple, and easily one of the most visited temples in the area.
If reports are to go by, two tourism circuits – Mysuru Circuit and Hampi Circuit – will be made functional very soon. The Mysuru Circuit will cover important places like Belur, Halebeedu and Somanathapura among others. The Hampi Circuit will have places like Badami, Hampi, Vijaypura and Lakkundi to name a few.
