As Labour Day approaches in the United States, travellers who are looking forward to visiting a national forest in California, would be disappointed to know that chances are slim. According to reports, more than 6800 wildfires have burned 1.7 million acres of land in the state.
As of today, 18 national forests in the state of California have been shut due to the wildfires. The national forests are to remain shut until September 17, as per reports. The Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest remains open since most of it is located inside Nevada, with only a small part of it in California.
The national forests that are shut are as follows - Angeles National Forest; Inyo National Forest; Cleveland National Forest: Eldorado National Forest; San Bernardino National Forest; Sequoia National Forest; Shasta-Trinity National Forest; Klamath National Forest; Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit; Lassen National Forest; Modoc National Forest; Plumas National Forest; Los Padres National Forest; Mendocino National Forest; Sierra National Forest; Six Rivers National Forest; Stanislaus National Forest; and Tahoe National Forest.
