Boeing is working on a unique antimicrobial surface coating that can fight against the coronavirus, and other such viruses. According to latest reports, astronauts are currently experimenting with the antimicrobial surface in the International Space Station. Boeing has teamed up with the University of Queensland in order to develop this antimicrobial surface.
Crew members of the International Space Station are in touch with the objects, and have been transferring naturally-occurring human microbes onto their surfaces. Interestingly, these objects will return to earth in the later part of 2021 for further tests. Researchers will then find out whether the coating works or not.
The aim right now for Boeing is to give passengers the safest travel experience possible. The company has been continually working to make this happen. Among its many developments, the company has come up with a UV wand that passes UV light over any surface. The light sanitizes the area, and makes it safe for usage.
We would have to wait for a while to notice any positive developments as far as the antimicrobial surface is concerned. If this becomes a success, the it is going to help passengers, and crew members to travel safely, and help prevent the spread of coronavirus.
